The 2016 New Orleans Service Project would not have be possible without the generous support from community members, family, and friends. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank everyone who shared a post, purchased a raffle ticket, read our blog, donated or gave us words of encouragement and offered well wishes.
With much love and gratitude,
The 2016 New Orleans Service Project
This project was originally conceived in fall of 2006 by the Juilliard student group ARTreach with the first trip taking place in March 2007. The project continued to grow with return trips each year from 2008 to 2014. We are proud to say that we are returning for a ninth trip to continue our service and outreach.
In eight years, the team has taught approximately 1400 students; renovated and built 13 homes for New Orleans families and presented over thirty free public performances. As a result of our years of service, the team was recognized by the New Orleans City Council and presented with the key to the city. Most recently, the team was recognized with a certificate of recognition presented by Mayor Mitch Landrieu.
